Beyond the Merge: Elevating Code Review Practices for Lasting Impact
Code reviews are not a necessary evil in the realm of software development; they are the unsung heroes of team dynamics and code quality.
But let’s face it: not all code reviews are created equal. There's a fine line between a constructive review that uplifts the team and a critique that feels like a slap on the wrist.
I've been building software for over 20 years. I've worked at big companies and household names like Microsoft, Shopify and Pinterest. I've also helped creating unicorns and spent a bit of time on some more boring endeavors.
The constant in all of the above is the collaborative nature of software engineering. And Code Reviews are a paramount part of this. How can we make them more effective, enjoyable, measurable? How can you be more impactful as a developer or as an engineering manager?
